Hadhari Nari Women's Project

Hadhari Nari provides refuge accommodation and support for women and children affected by domestic violence. It is targeted at black and ethnic minority women but is open to anyone in need of its services.

Established in 1986, the project has developed over the years and now offers a range of services out of its refuge accommodation at two separate (and secret) locations, and an Advice and Information Centre located in Derby.

Hadhari Nari’s services include:

  • temporary refuge accommodation
  • counselling and advice
  • legal surgeries
  • outreach work and aftercare support
  • structured activities, visits and outings for children
  • informal drop-in sessions
  • a resource facility, providing access to computers and other learning opportunities
    health clinics.
