The adaptations may be minor, for example the fitting of a grab rail in your bathroom, or may require more work, such as the creation of a level access shower.
We want all of our residents to enjoy the comfort of their own home and maintain as much independence as possible. If you or a member of your family is having mobility problems, such as stepping into the bath or coping with steps and stairs, we will try out best to meet your specific needs and help you live independently by assisting in the adaptation of your home.
Aids and adaptations are pieces of equipment (aids) or building changes (adaptations) which help elderly and disabled tenants or members of their household live more independently in their home and reduce the risk of falls.
You can apply for aids and/or adaptations if you are an MHP (Metropolitan Housing Partnership) tenant and you or a member of your household is having difficulty accessing or moving safely or comfortably around your home.
We may be able to carry out minor adaptations for you or refer you to the local authority mobility team or adaptation agency in your area if major adaptations are needed. These organisations are able to provide funding (Disabled Facilities Grants) as well as technical assistance.
Leaseholders may not be eligible for our aids and adaptation service. Your local customer services team will be happy to answer any eligibility questions you may have.
