Reducing energy costs

There are lots of easy ways to reduce the cost of your energy bills. Here are a few.

Energy saving light bulbs
  • Turn off the lights when you leave the room. Saving: £10.
  • Switch to energy saving light bulbs.
    Saving: £40.
  • Close the windows when you’ve got the radiator on.
  • Turn the central heating down by 1 degree centigrade. Saving: £50.
  • Change from a plasma to an LCD TV screen. Saving: £25.
  • Turn electrical products, such as DVD players, off, instead of having them on stand-by. Saving: £30.
  • Buy ‘energy saving recommended’ refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers. Saving: £60.
  • Wash your clothes at 30 degrees instead of 40. Saving: £10.
  • Only boil as much water as you need. Saving: £10.
  • Use a clothes line instead of a tumble dryer. Saving: £16.
  • Have a bath instead of a shower. Saving: £42.
